So I have an IUD and have had it for 5 years. Worked great so far and no period, my favorite perk. Well one day at work I am having horrible stomach pain and use the bathroom and blood everywhere. It freaked the heck out of me. I didn’t realize it was a period at first, since I haven’t had one in so long. I was even worried about rectal bleeding at first. Anyway I made an appointment for my OBGYN. My husband saw me in so much pain I could barely move for hours. I was worried my IUD shifted or punctured something.
I went to my appointment, they did a pregnancy test, and a Pap smear and said everything seemed fine, but I could replace the IUD if I want. I was so upset I told my husband I felt like I wasted a day off work and still didn’t understand why it happened or what the pain was. The pain went away after a few more days and the bleeding stopped. I figured then it must have been like a period.
My husband told me he hated seeing me in so much pain and offered a vasectomy. Honestly, I said thanks but that didn’t really make me feel better at the moment. I just felt so frustrated.
After the pain went away I didn’t bring it up again. Then my husband texts me at work today “I made an appointment at the urologist, not much longer now.”
I can’t believe it. Will I really be able to not have to worry about IUDs or birth control or hormones added to my body through pills? My body hasn’t felt natural since I started birth control pills over 15 years ago. And I didn’t even have to ask him to do it, he offered! It’s a miracle.
