I (20f) have been friends with this girl (20f) for about two months now, we met at uni and we’re all part of a bigger friend group.

For about two weeks now, my friend has been planning a huge party for her birthday. She said she was planning for us all to wear her favourite colour (pink) to celebrate it. She asked me to wear a pink dress on the day, so we could all go clubbing together wearing pink.

The problem is, I hate wearing dresses. I haven’t worn them since I was little and I don’t want to wear them again. I told my friend this, and offered to wear a pink trousers and top instead.

However, my friend has repeatedly insisted that I wear a dress so we can all match. A few days ago she sent me a photo of a pink dress that she’d bought me. I felt so guilty but I once again, said I wouldn’t wear it.

AITA? My friend is upset. I’ve explained it’s because I hate wearing dresses. My style is way more butch and I prefer it that way. I know I’m hurting her, but I’ve also told her multiple times that I didn’t want to wear a dress.

AITA?
