I think statists and government-enablers have won a tremendous victory in being able to fool many people into blaming experts for what politicians and bureaucrats want. When it comes down to it, experts in every field and at every alphabet institution, be it at the NIH, NSF, DOE, FDA, whatever, can have opinions on how the world should work, but they actually have no power. Think about it. There are experts at every institution that have opinions that defy what the public hears from press reports and briefings from those institutions, but you never hear about them because they don't align with what the bureaucrats want people to think.

What power does, as a well-known example, Fauci have to destroy the lives of Americans? He doesn't. If the police, Congress, President, all the courts, etc. didn't want to do anything Fauci said, we'd never hear a thing he has to say, let alone know who he is. However, the state and its enforcers all want to take away all your rights and make you completely dependent on the state. They've wanted this for years. They use experts as their fall guys and convince people that all these draconian measures that politicians just coincidentally want are what the experts want and nothing more. It's easy because how dare you disagree with someone with a PhD?

How do we know this is true? Look at the scumbags who run places like California and New York. When the experts at the CDC decide that it's okay to relax things, all of a sudden the experts don't matter, and even more stringent measures were implemented. Listening to the CDC was convenient until it wasn't. It was never about what they said; it was always about what the authoritarians wanted.
