I went to a gynaecological clinic while on holiday abroad because sonograms and check ups are much cheaper. I had have some pains around my ovaries so i wanted to have it checked out. The clinic was a bit weird (no receptionist and they did not ask you any questions about your concerns/symptoms) but ok i did not think much of it. The doctor was apparently a certified gynaecologist. He scanned me from my belly downwards and said he did not see anything alarming. He kept circling around my bladder and kept pushing which felt terrible because my bladder needed to be full for the sonogram. Then he said my uterus looked weird. I asked him what was wrong and he said that it has anatomic deformities. My heart dropped because i really want to get pregnant one day. He said he needed to do a vaginal exam and in my head i was so caught up in what he told me before, i agreed. I got naked from hips down behind a stall, lied down and he desinfected his hands and put gloves on and he put two fingers in immediately and got in very harsh. And deep. He went in circles deep inside me for a few times and i realized i had not even emptied my bladder yet and i know it must be empty before a vaginal exam. I thought, maybe he forgot to ask me to go to the bathroom? I really started struggling to hold it up and i told him to please stop the exam. He said that it was not done yet. I said it was painful and that my bladder was still full. He ignored me and went on with whatever he was doing in there. I repeated what i said and finally he took his fingers out. I honestly felt kind of overwhelmed so i froze for a few seconds while he was taking his gloves off. Then i thought, fuck this. He disregarded my bounderies. I grabbed my pants and put them on and said i wanted to stop this consulation and got out fast.

I barely processed all of this and i did not know what to think of it but i immediately asked for a consultation at another clinic the day after (today). It’s one of the biggest and expensive so i knew i would get expert advise. I asked them to sonogram my whole reproductive system and they said my uterus looked perfectly fine. They actually did an intake and even said there is no indication for a vaginal exam.

I honestly just thought the first doctor just made a sonogram mistake, then did the vaginal exam because he read the sonogram wrong and was just disrespectful. But one friend said just now it even could be considered assault because the vaginal exam was not needed and he did not stop when i told him to.

I have no idea what to think of it and what to do but i just wanted to put this out as a warning for sketchy clinics abroad. There are a lot of good ones too but make sure to know where you are going well beforehand. I did not and i feel shitty about it.
