Is it something that has already happened, such as the recent round of conference realignment, the NIL wild west, the College Football Playoffs, etc? Or is it something that hasn’t happened yet, like the Big 10 and SEC eventually creating a micro-NFL, continued lack of oversite on NIL/too much governing of it, or something else?
For me specificully it feels like im at that tipping point where my interest in College Football has nearly hit rock bottom. While I love the additions of BYU, Houston, Cincinati and UCF for the Big 12, them coming in at the cost of Oklahoma and Texas leaving stings. They’re all programs that I have felt belonged in a larger conference (minus UCF as their success has been relatively recent). I enjoy Colorado returning to the Big 12 but it feels so odd seing the Arizonas and Utah joining in for the ride. And of course USC, UCLA, Oregon and Washington going to the Big 10. The shift away from regionlism and tradition is bothering me as a viewer and fan. I will continue on watching because truly I have yet to get enough of the sport and drama, but once the trigger is pulled on the FBS dividing further than it already is between P5 and G5, I feel that love is going to perpetually dwindly.
And I swear to god if they take away El Assico away from me I am going to riot. Or at least be midly upset, I have yet to decide. So what is it for you? What was it, or what will be the final nail in the coffin on your College Football fandom?
