There is a point in Patriot where Don McLean’s American Pie comes on, and it starts out in the background then goes up in volume constantly during the scene until it is the only thing you can hear. And it is wonderful, and sad, and better than I actually feel about the song itself.
I haven’t finished the series, but it has been so consistently good. And this particular scene struck me as noteworthy.
