I was having a conversation with my mother today about women’s rights and how women weren’t allowed to get a mortgage on their own etc and my mum recounted a story of when she was in her early 20’s probably in the mid ‘70’s her work colleague was taking all the overtime she could get and save some money to visit her brother who had moved to America. Anyway this woman was married but her shithead husband had left her and moved in with his mistress. My mother’s friend was in the process of filing for divorce but because she was legally married, she still needed her husbands permission to travel to the US. Eventually she divorced and travelled to see her brother so she did go eventually but what the fuck? Does anyone know anything about this? I live in the UK by the way.
