I (24 F) have been through some real horror when it comes to SA or misbehaviour from men (I live in India so I’m not surprised).

Whenever I have opened up about this to my friends they have been supportive (not always but the trusted ones anyway) but I recently had an experience that changed my whole experience.

I have a friend who works as a waitress and she got SA by her manager. She can’t leave the job as it was hard for her to get it in the first place.

When I told my rich privileged friends, they were first sympathetic but then when they met her and realised that she was scared and her family would blame her they asked me to talk to them seperate.

“These low life people are like this only, they live in filth and don’t understand basic things like consent. She’s not if our standard”.

This was very upsetting to me as a lot of time. Some of my friends usually use the word standard in a derogatory way. I call them out but they keep coming up with reasons…

They are pro woman unless the woman poor and happen to be of a lower caste.
