The Super Bowl’s been around since '67 and it’s had huge ratings since the beginning; in fact, the highest-rated ever SB was in '82. So I think it’s weird, then, that Super Bowl ads didn’t really start becoming a big deal until the '84 Apple ad, and from what I can tell didn’t become like what they are now until about 2000. Why didn’t advertisers realize the potential earlier?
