This is one thing that I find astonishing by the left:

They’re all for big government, which would include social tax payer programs, mandating health insurance coverage, and treading on the constitutional rights of American citizens.

How many times have we heard them call for gun bans after a “mass shooting”?

How many times have we heard them call for more taxes to “improve” or add more social programs?

You get the idea- between gun bans, mandates, and taxpayer programs, these all require a big centralized government to be feasible.

Moreover when states and municipalities vote in favor these, the claim it’s fair because it occurred democratically.

Here’s where I’m called the hypocrite though:

I was in a Discord political debate as the lone constitutionalist/Libertarian. I was told that I’m a hypocrite for arguing the unconstitutional nature of San Jose’s gun tax and confiscation scheme.

What makes me a hypocrite here according to the debate opponents?

Apparently us constitutionalists end up “crying to the government” when we think something is unconstitutional, basically implying that we’re for “big government” in the end.

Sooo color me shocked being told I’m for “big government” because I think the courts have a duty to strike down gun bans (“Shall not be infringed”), and it shouldn’t matter how if the law was passed “democratically”.

If Joe Citizen gets in trouble for possessing a firearm that a local government banned, then it’s his right to appeal to the higher courts and challenge to constitutionality of the law. After all, we’ve already established that you’re not supposed to be arrested for exercising your rights according to the constitution.

But going back to being tagged as a hypocrite:

I’m opposed to guns being taxed, and subsequently, the confiscation of said guns (which requires “big government”), but I’m the hypocrite for thinking people should be left alone.

Or better yet, Joe Citizen
