I don’t get it. Especially for shows on like Netflix. Why would they form it in such wide format when nobody has a tv that wide? Why have the black bars as the top and bottom?
I was just watching the show paradise and it has huge bars.
Then I switched to Goliath and it has much smaller bars resulting in it taking up like 20% more screen space.
But even Goliath still has black bars. If almost 100% of content is now being watched on TVs which the vast majority use the same aspect ratio… why the hell are people still filming/producing stuff that doesn’t EXACTLY fit that aspect ratio?
I honestly don’t get it. It’s ridiculous having a 65 inch tv screen that is too big for my room, and when I watch tv it’s ridiculously big. Then I watch a tv show on Hulu or something, and I can hardly see what’s going on because 33% of the screen is not being used. I feel like I need to install some train tracks in my room and put my tv on a rail cart and move it back and forth by 5 feet to adjust for how big the black bars are.
