I have seen a lot of TV. I had not watched Silicon Valley because I simply missed it. I made the mistake of giving it a shot. I did not make it past episode 1. But why…

The show did not seem to want to commit to the jokes. Like they danced around, circling the plot, which was actually pretty entertaining. I watched to the end not for the laughs but to see how it was going to pan out. However, the show undoubtedly wanted to be funny, but seemed to not succeed almost intentionally.

I know the brand of humor, and… I don’t think it wanted to go all-in.

I don’t think this is a case not “getting it” or the software industry; I know it, know the jokes, cool.

I would ask to get responses, “what am I missing?” But I didn’t miss anything.

I’m genuinely surprised by the high RT score for S1, and that HBO kept it going. Welp. Prepare for a bombardment of brutal attack, I guess. Shrug…?
