I’ve been through a ton of heavy stuff in my life, and much of it is unaddressed trauma or pain. Parental suicide, divorce, narcissism, rejection by family, religious trauma, emotional abuse, cheating, the lot.

I have not been able to really truly feel a lot of that stuff, and I’m looking for something that will really force me to confront it.

I’ve watched some really heavy or meaningful stuff, and every now and then I’ll get a tear or two, but nothing has really brought me to my knees. Some examples would be The Leftovers, Station Eleven, Under the Banner of Heaven, and their ilk.

What should I watch that will cause the floodgates to open?

I should note I am in therapy and my therapist has commented about how much I seem to shrug or laugh off some really serious stuff, and that there is a lot I need to really dig into.
