I SAID HEAR ME OUT!

The show has had an unfortunate number of publicity issues that have, in my opinion, overshadowed the show’s legacy and reputation as what should be an S-tier comedy.

Off the top of my head, there was the “high IQ” copypasta fandorks, the szechaun sauce debacle, the incel idolization of Rick, the long wait time in the early seasons, and Justin Roiland’s personal issues all getting significant discussion that took the conversation away from the actual show.

But the show is really, really good on par in my opinion with some of the “all time greats”. The humor ranges from juvenile to deep to straight up existential, the characterization develops unlike many animated shows, and I think it starts some interesting conversations about life and media.
