Mr. & Mrs. Smith

The show cleverly blends action/spy intrigue with fairly well written, down to earth relationship dynamics between John and Jane which is boostered by Glover and Erskine’s chemistry

It also has almost nothing to do with the Brangelina vehicle outside of “it’s about a spy couple named The Smiths”. The 2005 movie was about two spies who were married and didn’t know they were spies or worked for competing organizations and had to knock each other out.

This show is about a spy couple who knows their spies, works for the same organization, and does missions together.

I mean it’s cool they decided to take it into a different direction than the movie but if it just feels like a completely different story what’s even the point of calling it an adaptation?

I dunno it feels like Glover wanted to make a show about a spy couple but Amazon only agreed to develop it if they could base it off a well known IP they could get the rights to and that it vaguely resembles. It would be like calling Swarm Fatal Attraction or Atlanta 8 Mile.
