I don’t know if I’m just going crazy but whenever I watch older shows, everything just looks so much more stunning. There’s a lot of vibrant colors, the environment they are in feel like they are actually there, it just feels better.

Shows nowadays feel like they are just trying to emulate movies and rely too much on CGI, the lighting feels flat which makes the entire show feel fake, the colors are muddy and desaturated, etc. This is a more personal opinion but I also don’t like how shows try to give us a more cinematic aspect ratio instead of sticking to 16:9. Call me crazy but I think TV shows are trying so hard to be longer movies that they have completely lost what made television special and different.

New shows just have a weird feeling, like there’s just a disconnect. I can’t quite put my finger on exactly what the issue is. I just miss when TV shows were TV shows and not 8 hour movies.
