A QB the caliber of Kyle Boller starting 4 seasons and playing 5 seasons for the Ravens or any team for that matter.
I don’t know if it’s just that expectations around the QB position have gotten higher, or that the league just has more quantity of good QB’s, but now anyone who comes into the league playing like Kyle Boller did only gets a starting role in the league for a maximum of 2 years no matter how good or bad the team is around that player.
To be fair, the ravens defense was so dominantly good that it actually sort of saved Boller’s rear end with the team. Otherwise the Ravens would have been more similar to the Browns in losing seasons and never ending cycles of QB’s.
As the only recent comparison that really sticks out to me in todays NFL is Daniel Jones. We all thought he very much overstayed his welcome as the starting QB for the Giants for many seasons, but even he was in a whole different league than Boller was.
Boller with Baltimore had a 45/44 TD to INT ratio, a success rate of 39% and an average rating of 71.
Daniel Jones with the Giants had a 70/47 TD to INT ratio, a success rate of 43% and an average rating of 84. They ran him out of town.
