I went to a local lock & key shop today. I love supporting local businesses. A little old man sat at the counter. I told him I needed a cylinder lock for a patio door. He asked who would be installing it. I told him I would. He shook his head and told me “you won’t be able to install this yourself.” I was surprised. “Um… I’ve done it before…” so he shows me where they are and tells me there’s no returns if I try to install it and can’t. I said that was fine & told him I’d need keys made from the new key. He told me to go home and install it and then come back for the new keys. I insisted and he made the keys for me and wished me luck. This man legitimately didn’t believe I was capable of installing a simple lock! I’m a small woman and look pretty young, I can’t help but wonder if he would’ve said the same thing to a man. I went home and installed it in ten minutes by myself. All you need is a screwdriver to take apart the handle and a hack saw to trim the post to fit… it’s not difficult, physically or mentally. Just sell me what I came here for and don’t be so condescending.
