One of my favorite sketch comedy series to watch as a kid was Mad TV, and as cliché as this is gonna sound, I’ve always found it to be better than SNL. The thing with Mad TV to me is how energetic and convincing the comedic performances were, compared to SNL where a lot less blocking is involved and the performances from the cast members come off a lot more awkward and stilted. Maybe it’s because of how much more prepared the actors in Mad TV were in that they’ve rehearsed a lot beforehand while SNL resorted to having their players red off cue cards the whole time.
Well, after going back and watching a ton of compilations on YouTube for nostalgia, I’ve decided out of both curiosity and boredom to make a post to those who remember the series to ask what their favorite cast member was, and after giving myself some time to think, I’ve come to the conclusion in considering Will Sasso to be my personal favorite. Why? Many reasons. He’s the only comic actor I know who remains when he’s both fat and skinny. He’s also one of the best comedic impersonators I’ve ever seen on the show, along with Frank Caliendo. Like I don’t know anyone who could impersonate Tony Soprano and Steven Seagal better than he can lol. And last but not least, he was probably the only good things from that terrible CW revival in 2016. Who is your favorite cast member on Mad TV?
