At Michigan, a couple numbers have always been held in special esteem, and guys typically have to “earn” the right to wear it. #1 has always been associated with special WRs (Anthony Carter, Braylon Edwards), #2 for the top defender (Charles Woodson, Cato June), and #77 for the big mean offensive tackle (Jake Long, Taylor Lewan).
