I was eating breakfast with my brother and father, the only close family members I have who I don’t hate.

The subject of cryptocurrency came up, and my brother was investing in them, so I pointed out that they’re both useless and bad for the environment. What followed was an increasingly incensed argument for about half an hour about how, yes, I knew what I was talking about, yes it’s relevant, and yes I deserve to be listened to, given how I always listen to them. They kept repeating the points of “but they bring value!!!11!” and “calm down!” and “it’s not your fight” and “you’re not going to win this fight” and “that’s just your opinion”.

Every time I talk about anything it feels like talking to a brick fucking wall, and I don’t know if it’s because I’m a woman or because I don’t agree with them, or maybe some third secret option that infuriates me just as much.

Honestly next time I’m just going there to eat and I’m not saying a word, cuz it’s not like I’ll be listened to anyway.
