As the Pac-12 enters its final year, I thought it would be worth it to looking back at the history of the 12 team conference.

School Record Conference Championships Top 25 Finishes Playoff Games Post Season Wins
Oregon 113 - 41 4 8 2 7
USC 98 - 52 1 5 0 3
Stanford 96 - 54 3 6 0 5
Washington 96 - 53 2 5 1 5
Utah 96 - 54 2 6 0 5
UCLA 80 - 68 0 3 0 2
Arizona State 80 - 66 0 2 0 3
Washington St. 74 - 70 0 2 0 2
Arizona 62 - 81 0 1 0 3
Cal 59 - 81 0 0 0 2
Oregon St. 57 - 86 0 2 0 2
Colorado 48 - 94 0 1 0 0
  • Note - Due to Covid Year and Post Season Games Played / Not Played schools do not have exactly the same number of games played.

The battle for 2nd most wins in the conference will be heated this year with USC having a 2 game lead over Washington and Utah. Regardless, all 3 are likely to finish in the top 25 and match at 6 with Stanford for 2nd place.

Stanford, unless they have a crazy unexpected season, will fall behind in overall record and not have a top 25 finish nor a Conference Championship.

Oregon is likely to finish in the top 25 and retain its throne for Overall Record, number of top 25 finishes, and post season wins.

Unless Washington makes the playoff this year Oregon will also at least tie for most playoff games.

After the top 5 there is a big drop down and a battle between UCLA and Arizona State for #6 in the conference. UCLA is projected to be better, however. They have more top 25 finishes, though Arizona State has more post season wins.

Wazzu is unlikely to move up or down in the standings and will finish 8th.

Oregon St. has a legitimate shot at moving from 11th to 9th this year despite being 5 games behind Arizona. Arizona is likely to retain the spot, but Oregon St. should have a much better year.

Colorado has a statistical chance to finish 11th, but in reality it won’t happen. Colorado is easily the worst team in Pac-12 history and that won’t change with this final year. Even if they won 13 games they would need Cal to only win 3 and Oregon St. to only win 5. And with no post season wins they will be remembers as adding nothing to the conference on the field.

This has been a competitive conference, and even though long-term trends bear out that some have been better than others, having 5 different Conference Champions in a 12 year period has made it a fun ride throught the years.

I’m going to miss this conference. Hope the last year is a memorable one.
