You do this or you don’t do this, men with guns come to your location and take you away. If you “resist”, they can legally kill you. Libertarians understand this concept, but a lot of people particularly on the left get offended by this. I’ve seen a lot of “you’re just exaggerating bro”, “it’s not like that”, “just do what you’re told” especially in regards to discussions on taxation.
I try to use real world examples that they care about. Look at Eric garner, he was accused of selling loose cigarettes which is against the law. He resisted arrest and the state choked him out on the street killing him. The response is always well that was racism/white supremacy and not focusing on the concept/idea of the law in the first place.
I feel like a lot of progressives want “laws” and social mandates but don’t like the negative consequences of enforcement
