A few months ago, Walgreens released a statement that “allows employees to deny prescriptions for birth control or purchases of condoms based on their religious or moral beliefs”. -USA Today (March 7,2023).
I’ve had two change my birth control prescription a few times this year. A few months ago I was picking up my new BC from Walgreens, along with a second new prescription to treat a yeast infection. I was told only one prescription was ready and was given the yeast infection meds. I went back a few days later to pick up the birth control, only to find when I got home that it contained more yeast control meds, NOT birth control.
Last week I was prescribed yet another new birth control along with a second weekly yeast infection preventative med, and the EXACT SAME THING happened again. Only the yeast infection prescription was available on Sunday, so today I went to get the BC. I got home only to realize I was given more yeast infection meds yet again, instead of my birth control.
I checked the app and it said that on Sunday I picked up the birth control and today I picked up my yeast infection meds. I don’t know anything about how a pharmacy works, but how is this happening?? Is it an accident? I’ve used Walgreens for 15 years and this has never happened, and now for it to happen twice within months. And why is it always the birth control? Has this happened to anyone else? To give a little context, I live in the suburbs of Illinois, so a very blue area politically.
I’m pissed and scared and about to call Walgreens corporate.
