So today I had such a weird experience and I just don’t know what to make of it, is this some pick up technique I don’t know about? Sex trafficking? Just a weird guy?
I was in the line for self check out at walmart and this guy walked up to me and stood by my side. I was immediately super uncomfortable so I backed up all I could (there were people behind me so I couldn’t back up much) but he just matched my movement and backed up as well. I looked at him sort of questioningly and he started to talk to me about what was in my cart. He was like, “oh wow, you’ve got really healthy food! And cleaning supplies! You must have a really clean house and good meals, I’d love to come home with you”
I was taken aback so I just said, “um, okay…” and I didn’t really know what to do. He was standing next to me in a way that made it look like he knew me, it was super uncomfortable. Finally a register opens up and it’s an actual register with a woman working the till, not a self check out kiosk. So I go up to the woman and he follows me! The woman scanned all my groceries and the man put his stuff (a couple energy drinks and a gatorade) down for her to scan! She was about to scan one of the drinks and I stopped her, I told her that his stuff wasn’t mine and I don’t know him. So I just paid for my stuff and ran out of that walmart so freaking fast. I ran to my car, threw all my stuff in the back and drove off before he could follow me out of the store.
It was such a weird experience, what even was that? The man wasn’t unkempt like a homeless man, he seemed just like a normal guy. So why was he trying to make me pay for his drinks? Why was he standing so close, trying to make it look like he knew me? The whole situation made me feel so uneasy, every cell in my body was telling me that something was NOT right.
