Just got my pap smear back. It says HPV. My doctor said we should first have the HPV DNA test to make sure it’s indeed hpv and to address whether it’s high or low risk. I’m absolutely terrified. My boyfriend is my first. I’m afraid it’s serious, if it’s high risk I’m going to get cancer in the future. I’m afraid about everything. I have so many questions. My doctor said that we should have that test first as well as colposcopy. I had a panic attack in his office, I have the biggest health anxiety ever! I’ll be afraid for the rest of my life that I’ll get cancer. I also read that low risk hpv is usually warts and I don’t have warts so it’s probably high risk… I’m terrified…
PS: I was vaccinated 10 years ago (I’m 23 now) but my doctor said the vaccine protects only from some hpv high risk strains.
EDIT: thank you so much everyone for your support, you don’t how much I appreciate it🥹💖 I’m relieved now that I found out it’s super common and treatable
