Lamar’s struggles against the Steelers are pretty well-documented at this point, though his 1-4 record still might not do it justice. In his only win against the Steelers during his 2019 MVP year, he went 19/28 for 161 yards, threw 1 TD to 3 INTs, was sacked 5 times, and was held to 70 yards rushing across 14 attempts. He also fumbled but recovered it himself.

That proved enough to squeak past the Steelers, who started Mason Rudolph before switching to Devlin “Duck” Hodges mid-game following a concussion to Mason. The Steelers collected 77 rushing yards and 203 passing yards split across three different passers. (Mason, Duck, and running back Jaylen Samuels, who threw two passes in the midst of a dismal offensive performance)

This was debatably Lamar’s worst start against the Steelers. It’s his worst by passer rating at 54.9 (his only game against the Steelers below 60), his second-most turnovers (he gave up 4 in his game against the Steelers in 2020), and his fewest passing yards. (161, he had 200+ in every other start against the Steelers)

Discuss.
