Tulane and Army are set to square off in the American championship. Boise State has clinched their berth in the MWC championship but their opponent is not set yet. Could be a rematch against UNLV who played them pretty close last time.
I think Boise State is in as long as they win out and Notre Dame takes care of business against Army.
If Army upsets Notre Dame and then beats Tulane, it would be tough to keep an undefeated Army out of the playoff. If they lose to Notre Dame I still think they get in with a win over Tulane provided Boise State chokes in the MWC championship game.
If Tulane knocks off Army and then Boise State chokes the MWC championship game, I think the committee has to pick Tulane as the fifth conference champion to get in.
These are the only three teams I can think of with a realistic scenario where they get in. Are there any others? Could UNLV still stand a chance if they upset Boise State for the MWC championship, or does the American champion get in over them no matter what?
