As we all know the Big12 is THE PREMIER Truck Stop Conference. Therefore it only makes sense to view the conference’s athletic programs through a view of how many truck stops each state has. Since some states have multiple BIG12 schools, the Truck Stops have been averaged on a per school basis for each state. As a tie breaker between schools in the same state, proximity to a truck stop determines the order.
- Central Florida (397 Truck Stops)
- Cincinnati (336 Truck Stops)
- Oklahoma State (323 Truck Stops)
- Iowa State (242 Truck Stops)
- Texas Tech (230 Truck Stops / 1.83 Miles Away)
- Baylor (230 Truck Stops / 3.91 Miles Away)
- Houston (230 Truck Stops / 5.13 Miles Away)
- TCU (230 Truck Stops / 8.8 Miles Away)
- Colorado (192 Truck Stops)
- Kansas State (115.5 Truck Stops / 1.43 Miles Away)
- Kansas (115.5 Truck Stops / 3.67 Miles Away)
- Arizona State (89.5 Truck Stops / 3.73 Miles Away)
- Arizona (89.5 Truck Stops / 8.45 Miles Away)
- West Virginia (80 Truck Stops)
- BYU (69 Truck Stops / 4.83 Miles Away)
- Utah (69 Truck Stops / 4.86 Miles Away)
Takeaways:
- The Biggest takeaway in my opinion is that Arizona in particular, Arizona State is more of a Truck Stop School than West Virginia. Maybe Ray Anderson should take that in to consideration next time he talks shit.
- Texas’ dominance on a volume number is hampered by an oversaturation in the market.
- As much as Utah and BYU hate each other they scored essentially equal in this metric. Maybe there are more similarities there than they think. Hopefully the Truck Stops can be something they bond over rather than fight over.
- Newcomers at the top! UCF (gross) and UC rank as the top two schools in the conference per TSPS. This makes sense that the first round of expansion included them to secure the conference culture.
Warning: All numbers subject to potential error due to my own idiocy.
