I made a very simple comment on Gabby Tuft’s transformation from a 280 lb incredibly muscular man to a woman who is now muscular in a more feminine way, has had FFS surgery and really shines a light on the incredible power of hormone treatment and a good surgeon. Her transformation is truly beautiful, even simply from a medical science standpoint. I only recently learned about her in the past few days.
I woke up this morning after making that positive comment to a reply that opened my eyes to the very insidious nature of men and bigotry. Not only does my comment have a majority of laugh reacts (it’s a Daily Mail article 🙄) but a man replied and stated how horrendous and disgusting Gabbi is and said “What are world we live in where men can become women and women have to sit idly by as everything they stand for is determined no longer worthy of any mention.”
Where the fuck was this torch carrying for women when we were (and still are) sexually harassed in the workplace for decades? When we were (and still are) paid less than men for the same positions in the workplace? When we went (and still do) to a police stations to report a sexual assault or a rape and were told that if we had dressed differently, stayed home, been kinder or smiled more that sexual assault or rape wouldn’t have happened? When we were fighting (recently so) to be paid equivalently to our male counterparts in sports as professional athletes?
It fucking disgusts me that people have the gall to not only spew hate towards an adult living their life and harming no one but now men in particular are using it, their hatred, as a thinly veiled means of attempting to defend the honor of women. I know we have TERFs but I do think we need a whole new acronym for men like this.
Anyway, I just needed to get this off my chest because there is no point in replying and arguing with folks like this on the internet. But also there’s clearly no winning here either. Folks like this are trying to villainize drag queens, trans people and groomers. They screech and scream about saving and defending our children. But when a grown adult chooses to transition instead of killing themselves (which is Gabbi’s story) these people still come out of the woodwork to be hateful bigots. It shows that it’s not about saving the children or protecting the kids. It’s about their desire to be allowed to be fully fledged bigots without brakess, without red tape, without anyone telling them, “What you were saying is hateful.”
