It was also their largest margin of victory in the series since 1968. The Hawkeyes out-gained the Badgers 422-261, including 329-124 on the ground.

Iowa won its third consecutive game in the series, the first time they’ve done that since 2005. The Hawkeyes have also taken each of the last three meetings at Kinnick Stadium.

Here’s what we learned…

Wisconsin was going to have to slow down, if not shut down Iowa running back Kaleb Johnson if they were going to win on the road.

The Big Ten’s leading rusher was over 100 yards after his first carry of the third quarter.

We talk about it annually during Iowa week. You cannot afford self-inflicted wounds against this Hawkeye team, which is extremely disciplined and preys on mistakes/winning the field position battle.

Wisconsin got a huge gift in the first quarter as Iowa committed four penalties in the opening period. Did the Badgers take advantage? Nope, they committed five.

Normally, I’d never suggest this given the current makeup of the roster, but the reality is, the quarterback position is putting so much pressure on the rest of the team, and once again, one big mistake forces the wheels to come off.

This team already has a small margin for error. They can’t overcome the most important position on the football field not playing well and/or making mistakes with the football.

Not going to totally absolve UW’s defense, which we’ve already called out, but for the second-straight week, an unforced interception by Braedyn Locke completely changed the game.
