Just a small rant. I live in a blue state for context. A year ago I made the choice to get my tubes removed for sterilization in my 20s, as I don’t want kids. No regrets. A couple months ago I had an endometrial ablation for ongoing bleeding. For those who don’t know, ablations usually render you infertile and make it dangerous to have a pregnancy. Salpingectomy makes me sterile but ablation is just cherry on top and makes me more sterile. Anyway, I saw a new tele doc for some GI issues. She was SO hung up on the bisalp and ablation. I told her calmly my gyn had no issues despite my age and tried to move on. She then tells me “well there’s always IVF!”. I was at a complete loss for words. Like I dont want kids?! How hard of a concept is that. After a pause i told her “well I also can’t because of the ablation”. Her facial expression soured and she mumbled a true and moved on.
But then addressed it again with me a few days ago “and we know you can’t have kids”.
I do not understand and never well, about doctors who get so hung up on a choice I made. Clearly another doctor deemed me a candidate and explained the risks. Why the hell do you care. .
