My bf has a friend that we frequently hang out with, as well as hang out in discord with. This friend likes to instigate things to rile people up. Its basically a meme at this point that he is known for saying outlandish shit and thats just his personality. Within the past three months, he has started saying sexist stuff to try and piss me off. “Leave this stuff to the men” “what are you on your period or something?” “Go do the dishes” as well as a meme saying “OP Lore” with the picture of a dishwasher. Its started getting on my nerves since men have actually said sexist things like that to my face seriously. I told the friend that i dont like those jokes but he jokingly said “women are so sensitive” I told my bf that it pisses me off and that he wouldn’t say those things if his gf was in the room. My bf said they were just jokes and that they all say stupid shit to each other. I told him that it doesn’t matter because i don’t like it and it really reminds me of actual times Ive been discriminated against. I got kinda angry and started to get frustrated at my bf because i told him it was hard for him to understand where i was coming from. He realized he fucked up and apologized. It just makes me think no matter how men are, they are still just men and will never understand why joking about that stuff really affects us.
