Howdy all CFB lovers, I am back ranking another upcoming week of some great college football! Coming off of another just ridiculous week, this may be my favorite season of ball that I’ve ever been apart of. Hoping for more wild games throughout the rest of the season.
BONUS. Ryan Day @ Ohio State Fanbase
Ohio State suffered its first loss of the season, a one singular point loss to the then #3 ranked Oregon Ducks on Saturday, 31-32. This has stirred some really interesting things for the Ohio State fanbase. You have one portion, who wants to fire Ryan Day and get him out, and while they do have some points, like Day has been failing to pull through on big games and not only there to win the smaller games, the other portion of the fan base also has a great point. This point is “well who would you hire that’s better?”. Personally, I don’t think Day should necessarily be on the hot seat just yet. A one point loss to an away game to the #2 ranked team in the nation shouldn’t put him on the seat for firing, but I also understand that Day really needs to come together and rally his team for this bye week and figure it out quick, as a ranked Penn State team awaits them after a trip to Nebraska. Also, Will Howard needs to be investigated for football negligence for that final play of that game.
28. #2 Oregon @ Purdue
I mean I guess? Oregon, yall really gonna try on this one? I mean anything can happen in college football, but like…you guys can probably do this one over email…
27. East Carolina @ #23 Army
The madlads did it. Ranked Army is now a thing in CFB. Not only that, but ranked Navy is also here. That matchup at the end of the season is looking really awesome. Somewhere out there, Notre Dame is starting to sweat. Navy and Army are looking to be real threats to the Irish’s playoff hopes. Luckily for Navy this week, East Carolina is not playing good ball. Take Army on this one.
26. Baylor @ Texas Tech
Texas Tech is a sleeper in the B1G 12. They are currently 5-1 and boast a 3-0 conference record. Behren Morton and Tahj Brooks are putting up some diabolical numbers during their games. They’ve beaten North Texas and Cincinnati by a combined 107 points. That’s ludicrous. Baylor is not a good ball team this year. Tech is looking to win this game and move on to the next.
25. Iowa @ Michigan State
Iowa hung 40 points on Washington last week and only held them to 16. That doesn’t even make sense when you say it out loud. Seriously, say that sentence out loud and repeat it. What? Iowa is playing great football right now. It’s actually very refreshing to see the Hawkeyes having an offense and beating the bones off of their opponents. Michigan State is struggling this year. While this game is not a freebie by any means, this is a game that Iowa should win.
24. #21 SMU @ Stanford
Well Stanford got completely murdered by Notre Dame last week. Not much to really say here. Ayomanor can’t really do much when the quarterback can’t make throws. SMU’s high tempo offense should have this one. Sorry Cardinals. This one may be ugly.
23. Ball State @ Vanderbilt
Vanderbilt still not being ranked is one of the biggest things that science has failed to explain in 2024. This group is improving week by week, defeating Alabama and now Kentucky, with a missed field goal away from beating Missouri. I get that the Georgia State loss was horrendous, but these wins have to be saying something. AP voters really need to discuss on this one. Vandy is way better than 2 loss Michigan, but is somehow still not in. I guess if they just keep winning, they’ll be recognized. On the other hand, Ball State is cooked
22. Louisiana @ Coastal Carolina
The Ragin Cajuns are on fire right now and currently 2nd in the SBC West, right behind ULM. This is shaping way to become a very dangerous team, and that Louisiana-LA Monroe matchup at the end of the season is looking more and more interesting as the weeks progress. Coastal Carolina could pose as a problem this week.
21. Arizona State @ Cincinnati
Arizona State straight up bullied Utah last week. So badly that they completed dropped out of the top 25. The Sun Devils are looking better and better every week. However, don’t discount out Cincinnati. They beat UCF (albeit the gus bus has been derailed for a while now) and narrowly lost to Tech. This game could be a wild clash.
20. Virginia @ #10 Clemson
Clemson continues to look really good in their games. They are trying to make up for that Georgia game earlier on in the season. Although this week won’t be as easy as last week, the Tigers should have no problem beating a struggling Virginia team at home.
19. Houston @ Kansas
Get ready for a complete sickos classic right here. Houston and Kansas are both bottom teams in the Big 12. However, given the past history of matchups, there is a lot of potential for complete tomfoolery in this game. I legit have no idea what is going to happen.
18. TCU @ Utah
Yo Kyle Whittingham. It’s done bud. It’s over. Just drop it. Cam Falling is done. You can keep saying “oh well when Cam Rising comes back, Utah will be back”. Then he comes back and throws 3 picks. The dude is done. I mean Utah still has a lot of football games left for the season to play, but Cam better start learning car salesman or something, because his time is up.
17. Boston College @ Virginia Tech
Should be very interesting game. Although BC had a questionable loss to Virginia, these two teams matchup pretty well and should produce a very interesting playstyle. Castellanos is a baller and it intrigues me to see VT’s defense scheming up plays in order to limit both his passing and scrambling abilities. Could be a fun one to tune into.
16. #14 Texas A&M @ Mississippi State
The Aggies will be travelling down to Starkville for what should be, in theory, a win. However, Starkville is a tough place to play in. Those cowbells make it tough for anyone to play in that environment. Last week against Georgia, the Bulldogs (jr) showed signs of an offense, managing to put up 31 total points. That’s kinda wild. No SEC road game is gimme, so the Aggies will really need to focus on this one and not let off the gas. I trust in Elko’s ability to get this one done. I will still be clenching when I watch this game.
15. Kentucky @ Florida
Well, at this point I’m not really sure what to make of for this one. Both coaches are in some hot water right now. Kentucky lost at home to Vandy, and Florida lost in a thriller in OT to Tennessee. Both fan bases are pretty apathetic right now, so I’m not really sure what to make of this one. Maybe this is finally the game that gets Billy Napier canned? Could potentially be another sicko game.
14. UCF @ #9 Iowa State
Top 10 Iowa State football is absolutely insane. They are still undefeated and boasts a perfect conference record. What a time for the Cyclone athletic department. Keep up this kind of play, and you’re looking at a very fun football year. UCF is not a good team, but could very well be a mini trap game. You want to head into this bye week with another win and some time to prepare for a very good Texas Tech game in November. Fun fact; Iowa State’s men’s basketball team will most likely start off of the season in the top 10, so Iowa State fans are eating good right now in sports.
13. Auburn @ #19 Missouri
In my opinion, this is a must win game for Missouri. Missouri is definitely still in the conversation for an SEC title, even with the loss to Texas A&M. However, drop this one, and that is definitely out of the conversation. Auburn has a solid defense. The problem with them is that they have football terrorist Peyton Thorne as their quarterback. Although Hugh Freeze certainly isn’t doing him any favors, the amount of picks this man has thrown is baffling. Mizzou needs to capitalize on this game in order to keep them around in the conversation for this year.
12. South Carolina @ Oklahoma
South Carolina needs to be fined by the SEC for that chokejob against Alabama last week. Literally had a chance to pull the funny but completely ruined it. Now, they have to travel to Oklahoma, who got cleaned out by Texas. Oklahoma has major problems on the offensive side of the ball. I have never seen an OU offense so inept in years. This is seriously the worst they have looked on the offense I think I have ever seen. I don’t trust in their offense to win any SEC games. There’s only so much their defense can do, especially when the defense only gets like a 3 minute rest before the offense comes off the field during a possession.
11. Florida State @ Duke
Can Florida State get their 2nd win of the season? Tune in to find out! There’s a higher chance of getting struck by lightning than this happening, but oh well. Maybe Duke chokes?
10. #17 Kansas State @ West Virginia
Both the Wildcats and the Mountaineers are coming off of incredibly close games from last week. Kansas State came off of a 31-28 win over Colorado, and West Virginia is coming off of a close loss 34-38 to Pitt. This is shaping up to be a very fun game for this week. DJ Giddens is a beast and is a threat to that WV defense. WV plays well on offense, but really needs Garret Greene to have more awareness throwing the ball. They really need to clean up and not have many interceptions thrown to have a chance of winning this ball game. Regardless, this one is going to be very fun …
