First off, I loved the entire movie it was perfect for someone who grew up playing barbies at some point. I came to hate playing with barbies because it didn’t reflect the way I looked. I loved me some pastels and sparkles, but was mostly a tomboy growing up. This touched on many challenges I’ve dealt with as a woman. The main takeaway I got from the movie was that being a human in general is a challenge in this society due to so many expectations for both sides. I felt so heard as a woman and am thankful I got to watch it with my mother and sisters. When my mom clenched my hand during the mother scenes I knew that this a great movie. I almost cried several times while watching barbie questioning who she is because that’s how I’ve felt when presenting myself to others differently depending on the situation. Billie Eilish really did an amazing song for this movie as well as the rest of the soundtrack.
