This happened in broad daylight just before 8 AM. A 19 year old woman running on the trail was approached by a masked man who said he had a gun. He forced her into the woods and raped her. Police have not made an arrest yet.
This is a busy trail visible from the roadway. People bring their families and children here. I go early in the morning sometimes because I like birdwatching and the best time for birdwatching is early morning. I was there yesterday morning. (I had not heard about this until today)
My mom has always told me she gets worried about me going on walks alone and I’ve told her not to worry, that I always go places where other people aren’t around and that I bring pepper spray with me. The city I live in is considered safe. I guess I do have to worry though.
