I watched Culprits, a UK heist thriller. Interesting plot, memorable characters, decent acting, and some good action set-pieces. Should have totally been “in my wheelhouse” for shows I really like.

But.

The lead actor. Poor guy had bad facial acne. And ingrown hairs/razor stubble. This wouldn’t have been such a big deal, plenty of people have similar issues. If anything, it made him more human, easier to empathize with.

But scenes were obviously shot at different times, and seeing him go through a doorway, and then the same scene shot from inside the door? His acne pimples/boils were in different places. And to make matters worse, they shot for TV, so… lots of closeups.

After a while, it was all I could focus on. I know, pretty shallow of me! But seriously, even tiny details can sometimes completely change a scene.

What kinds of details take you out of a scene completely?
