According to PFF, over a 12-game season, Ashton Jeanty is on pace for 1,761 yards after contact. However, Boise State has potential to play in the CFP, in which case Jeanty would be playing a 14-game season and this would mean he is on pace for 2,055 yards after contact. There have only been five Heisman winners who rushed for more total yards than this during the season they won the Heisman. To make things crazier, Jeanty has only played 3.5 games (he sat out the second half of the Portland State game), and if you account for this he would actually be on pace for 2,238 yards after contact over a 14-game season. This would be more yards than the rushing total of every Heisman winning RB except Barry Sanders and Marcus Allen. What is perhaps even more insane is the fact that Jeanty averaging more yards after contact per carry (7.15) than all but three Heisman winners averaged per carry (Reggie Bush 8.7 yards/carry, Barry Sanders 7.6 yards/carry, and Mike Rozier 7.8 yards/carry).

While projecting stats this insane over a full season is usually foolish, Jeanty has averaged 70+% of his rushing total from yards after contact over his college career (freshmen average, sophomore average). So, it’s not crazy to project him continuing that. If you also account for the fact that Boise State’s schedule should get easier from this point on (31th hardest SoS thus far, and only 84th hardest remaining SoS according to FPI), it may actually be possible for Jeanty to keep this pace going.
