I am a hardcore leftist and would like to find someone with similar or at least someone who understands the importance of politics and protecting minority communities. I can’t tell you how many guys I’ve been on dates with who just don’t care about politics. Recently, I went on a hangout/date with a guy and the only thing that bothered me is that when I tried bringing up a political issue he clearly became uncomfortable and just said “People make it their whole identity and you shouldn’t use politics to burn bridges between relationships.” It just bothers me. I was raised in a very politically aware home which might not be attractive to everyone, I get that, but I want someone who at least is interested in having those conversations because it does affect the world we live in. It shows some emotionally maturity (politics whether we like it or not affects the economy, climate, and things like health insurance). If you aren’t interested in politics that tells me that you don’t care about social issues that much or things that might make you uncomfortable. It’s important to be somewhat aware as it shows a level of being able to have adult conversations. Does anyone else agree??? Does anyone else have similar experiences?
I don’t think most guys I know understand just how left I lean because I don’t share it with them.
