Can’t tell anyone in real life yet, so I’m putting it here just to get it out.
We’d been talking about marriage for a while and earlier this year we got in touch with a jeweller and I designed my engagement ring. I’m not always traditional but I did stipulate that he has to arrange the actual proposal - the when and where and how is to be a surprise to me, and he agreed because he wants it to be special too.
Yesterday he stumbles into my office (we both wfh) with an anguished look. He’s a bit dramatic by nature, and it’s been a rough work week for both of us, so when he says “I can’t take it anymore” I assume he’s just needing to vent, but he literally falls to his knees and says “I got your ring yesterday while you were out and it’s even more gorgeous in real life and I can’t keep this inside anymore” and crawls forward to put his head in my lap.
It was legitimately one of the cutest and funniest things I’ve ever seen.
He’d told several friends, some of which are mutuals, that it’s here but just couldn’t keep it in any longer. I don’t want most people to know that I know, because then it’ll be a million questions and hints, and after being together for 7 years we’ve already had enough of those. Plus I’m also pretty sure some of them will enjoy the excitement of being in on the “secret”.
But I’m definitely telling this story publically when we announce it.
