As a young woman I intentionally refer to myself as a woman and not a girl. I know that it’s just a small difference for most people, but I need to remind myself and others that I am an adult woman and deserve respect. I handle my finances, cook, clean, and take care of myself just like other adults. I also try to make sure I refer to any female over 18 as a woman, because it’s all too common for people to label them as girls- which again maybe doesn’t matter to some people, but if I’m trying to be taken seriously as a woman I need to extend that respect to other women.
