This is a weekly thread to discuss football in the Big 12. Discussion should be limited to football in the conference.

Week 5 Results
  • #22 BYU 34 - Baylor 28

We just keep finding new ways to lose while somehow still giving people hope. BYU jumped out to a big lead on the road in Waco and remains undefeated. I was hesitant to call this game “free money,” since that doesn’t exist, but I could not understand for the life of me why we were the favorites.

  • #23 Kansas State 42 - #20 Oklahoma State 20

I figured one of these teams was going to have a big bounce back, and it makes sense that it was the home team. The game was a little back-and-forth until OSU’s fumble in the second quarter. K-State took off from there and OSU couldn’t get back in.

  • TCU 38 - Kansas 27

A Series of Unfortunate Events in Arrowhead as Kansas let TCU get above .500 on the season. Both teams had their chances, but Kansas was cursed by their inability to convert turnovers into points.

  • Colorado 48 - UCF 21

You don’t really want to, but you gotta give CU credit for backing up their trash talk. UCF actually outgained the Buffs on offense, but couldn’t maintain the scoring like Colorado did.

  • #18 Iowa State 20 - Houston 0

I didn’t get to watch this game, but I saw the score with 5 minutes left in the third quarter and did a double take. It feels like we’re in an alternate universe when ISU vs Houston only had 10 total points going into the fourth quarter while at the same time UGA vs Bama had defense that would make Kliff Kingsbury proud.

  • Texas Tech 44 - Cincinnati 41

This game absolutely deserved overtime, but College KickersTM had other plans. There’s obviously more than just the final play that decides the outcome, but missing a kick that would’ve completed a comeback hurts more than a random play in the second quarter. It’s good to see an exciting conference game.

  • Arizona 23 - #10 Utah 10

Arizona decided to confuse everyone that doesn’t pay attention to scheduling cough ESPN cough and start the season by going 1-0 in conference play. I didn’t realize it was a thing, but I saw what felt like half of the comments on Reddit were about Cam Sinking Rising. It was an exciting end to the game even with a 2 score differential.

Championship Picks

To maintain some semblance of continuity, BYU should go here. I’m not sold, especially since they almost let us come back.
