There are many instances where refs don’t have a view of what occurred on the field. It’s gonna happen, it’s not the fault of the refs, they cannot see everything that occurs. How many times do we see some 15 second referee conference where the meeting goes “Did anyone see anything? No? Well we gotta call something. Touchdown!”

Given we have replay, and the rules require indisputable evidence to overturn a call, why shouldn’t there be an option for the refs to admit no one had a good view, we are kicking it to video review where a simple preponderance of evidence makes the decision?

As it stands now, the refs make a call and then the bar is higher to overturning what might be some random guess.

In the case of the Miami game, I think they got the right call but they had to violate the letter of the law to do so. It’s stupid, refs are human, just say no one had a sufficient view and move on.
