Everything about college football was just amazing:
- Spread offense was starting to become popular
- The conferences were fairly regional still, and traditional rivalries mattered (RIP: Backyard Brawl)
- 2007 was arguably the best year of college football ever. App State pulling off that huge upset over Michigan was magical!
- The drip was just so much better back then, because everybody was either wearing tinted visors, or cowboy collars, and crop top jerseys were still fairly common. A lot of teams had some amazing uniform combinations that they should seriously go back to. Hell, dudes were still rocking flattops and buzzcuts in 2003!
- Seeing Boise State stun Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl sits in my mind all day everyday, and I’m not even a fan of those teams.
- Colt Brennan made it worth it with staying up late to watch Hawaii knock some random WAC opponent into the dirt. Rest in peace, bud.
- There was a lot more channels televising games back then, and it was just fun for me to tune into those games to see other channels’ scorebar and ticker tape. RIP College Football on TBS…
- It’s probably for all the wrong reasons, but seeing Colorado back door their way into a CCG with Texas, and getting destroyed was fun to watch.
It’s sad that everything about the 2000’s isn’t coming back, not even the old conference alignment, here’s hoping there’s a rebirth and things go back to how they were though.
