A favorite show of mine is The Simpsons. Unfortunately, the show has been going downhill for many seasons now. For me the best ones were perhaps seasons 2 to 12. For reference, there are now 35 seasons. You can still find an occasionally good episode (e.g., Season 25’s “Brick Like Me”) but most are either not funny or lack a coherent story.

Anyhow, one thing I recently realized reading another thread was that one way The Simpsons has changed is that it’s got a lot less music in it. If you compare the earlier seasons, there was a lot more music, whether a jingle or music introducing a scene or added for dramatic effect. Now a lot of that is missing,. To see for yourself, just watch an episode from the first ten seasons and compare it with one from the last few.

What are other unique things that you’ve noticed about your favorite shows, be it the cast or production or writing or anything else?
