Here are Next Gen Stat Insights for each game in week 3. Each game features several insights for each team. There are no images, and there is no analysis or opinions of the insights. It is simply a cultivation of Next Gen Stat Insights organized by game, by team.
WARNING - This is an extremely long post.
Here are a few example insights. If you like this kind of stuff, you can read through the post or skip to your game. If not, you can skip it and save yourself 10 - 15 minutes of matchup nuggets and statistical quirks and oddities.
- The Giants defense has allowed opposing passers to complete all 14 attempts for a league-high 221 yards and 2 touchdowns when blitzing through the first two weeks. They are the only team to not have forced a single incompletion when blitzing this season.
- The Falcons are the only team in the NFL this season to have 0 rookies play a snap on offense or defense. In 2023, Falcons rookies accounted for 15% of their total offense snaps (12th-highest) and 9% of defensive snaps (19th).
- The Lions have recorded the highest rushing success rate (55.2%) after two games, despite rushing just 18 yards over expected, the 16th-most in the NFL. They have also faced a light box on just 36% of their carries, the 5th-lowest rate in the NFL.
- The Chiefs have allowed the most receptions (25) and receiving yards (276) in the NFL to tight ends through the first two weeks of the season. The Chiefs defense has allowed the most yards to tight ends in both man (89) and zone (187) coverage. Tight ends have generated +35 receiving yards over expected against the Chiefs, the 3rd-most in the league.
- Titans RT Nicholas Petit-Frere set an NGS era record on Sunday after allowing 13 pressures on 35 pass-blocking snaps against the Jets. His 37.1% pressure rate allowed is the highest single-game rate since 2018 (min. 20 pass block snaps).
Primarily matching up against Petit-Frere for the Packers will be defensive end Rashan Gary, who plays 91% of his snaps lined up as a left edge. So far on the season Gary has generated 5 pressures on 47 pass rushes for a 10.6% pressure rate. Last season, Gary finished last season with the 9th best pressure rate in the league at 17.4% (min. 250 pass rushes) and will be looking to regain his pace from 2023.
- The Eagles defense has converted on just 81.1% of their tackling opportunities this season, the 3rd-lowest rate in the NFL.
Though he tackled Bijan Robinson on the Falcons 4th & 1 attempt late in the fourth quarter of Week 2, Eagles safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson has recorded more missed tackles (5) than solo tackles (4) this season. Saints skill players have forced a missed tackle on 17.0% of their combined touches this season, the 10th-lowest rate in the NFL.
Enjoy the games.

BEARS
The Bears offensive line surrendered 23 pressures on 48 dropbacks (47.9%), including 11 quick pressures, both of which were the most across the league in Week 2.
The Colts have struggled to generate pressure when not blitzing. Their 27.0% pressure rate with 4 or fewer pass rushers ranks 20th in the league through two weeks. It is likely they will be without DeForest Buckner, who led the team in pressures in 2023 with 66.
In Week 2 against the Texans, Caleb Williams was blitzed on 41.7% of his dropbacks (20 times), completing just 3 of 12 passes for 15 yards and an interception. Williams was sacked on 5 blitzed dropbacks (7 total sacks).
Williams completed -21.0% of passes under expected against the blitz; when not blitzed, he completed 20 of 25 passes for 159 yards and an interception (+4.6% CPOE). Through two games, the Colts have the 4th-highest blitz rate in the league (33.9%), generating pressure on 42.1% of blitzes.
COLTS
The Colts have allowed the most rushing yards (474) and the most rushing plays resulting in 5 or more rushing yards over expected (12).
Anthony Richardson has thrown at least one interception in both games this season, which includes 3 interceptions in Week 2 against the Packers.
The Bears defense has forced 22 interceptions over the past two seasons (tied for most in the NFL).
In Week 2, Jonathan Taylor finished with the 2nd-highest yards after contact per carry (6.2, min. 10 carries) and rushing yards over expected (+55).
Through two weeks, the Bears defense have allowed 3.8 yards after contact per carry (8th-most) and +3 rushing yards over expected (15th-fewest). In Week 2, however, they limited the Texans rushing attack to 2.7 yards after contact while contacting Texans rushers behind the line of scrimmage on 59.1% of carries, the highest rate in a game this season.
Denver @ Tampa Bay
BRONCOS
Bo Nix has not thrown a passing TD in each of his first two career games.
The Buccaneers are the only team that have yet to allow a passing TD this season.
Bo Nix has averaged the deepest drop back depth in the NFL through the first two weeks of the season (9.1 yards).
Deeper dropbacks create a shorter path for edge rushers to the quarterback so as a result, the Broncos tackles average time to pressure has decreased from 3.01 seconds in 2023 down to 2.86 seconds this season. The Broncos have increased their average offensive line width from 5.9 yards in 2023 (27th-widest) to 6.4 yards this season (9th-widest).
Patrick Surtain has lined up against the opposing team’s primary outside threat on most of his coverage snaps this season.
In Week 1, Surtain lined up against DK Metcalf on 24 of 25 routes (96%) while using press coverage on 9 routes (38%). In Week 2, he lined up against George Pickens on 11 of his 17 routes (65%) and used press coverage on 4 (36%).
Surtain will likely face off against Mike Evans as Evans has played out wide on 73% of his snaps this season and is a similar physical profile to Pickens and Metcalf. Evans has been pressed on 34% of his routes this season, his highest rate over the last nine seasons. Since 2016, Evans has hauled in the 3rd-most yards (3,039) and most touchdowns (38) against press coverage.
BUCCANEERS
The Buccaneers have blitzed at the 5th-highest rate (34%) this season and have also mixed things up with the highest rate of creepers (12%) and the 4th-highest rate of defensive linemen dropping into coverage (35%).
The Buccaneers have generated a much higher rate when blitzing, jumping from a 26.2% pressure rate (22nd) when sending 4 or fewer rushers to a 48.4% pressure rate (7th) when sending 5 or more.
The Broncos offensive line and rookie QB Bo Nix have struggled against the blitz this season. Broncos pass blockers have allowed the 8th-highest rate of unblocked pressures (21%) while Nix has generated a 26.3% success rate against the blitz, 6th-lowest in the NFL.
Baker Mayfield leads the NFL in passing yards (265) and touchdowns (4) when targeting slot receivers this season.
Mayfield has targeted the slot on 43% of his attempts in 2024, a career-high and the 3rd-highest rate in the league. The main recipient of Mayfield’s slot targets has been Chris Godwin, who leads the NFL in slot receptions (11, T-1st), yards (169), and touchdowns (2). Godwin has aligned in the slot on 57% of his routes this season, up from 38% in 2023.
Green Bay @ Tennessee
PACKERS
The Packers called a designed run on 73.1% of plays Sunday against the Colts, the highest rate in a game since Week 10, 2022.
The Packers have leaned on their run game to create big plays, totaling a league-best 13 designed rushes of 10 or more yards. Additionally, Packers ball carriers have averaged 4.3 yards after contact per carry on designed rushes this season, the 3rd-highest rate in the NFL.
This production on the ground has come with the arrival of Josh Jacobs, who has increased his rushing yards over expected per carry from -0.4 in 2023 to +1.3 this season. While the Titans defense has allowed +33 rushing yards over expected this season, they have allowed ball carriers to gain more rushing yards than expected on 41.0% of designed rushes this season, the 6th-highest rate in the NFL.
Titans RT Nicholas Petit-Frere set an NGS era record on Sunday after allowing 13 pressures on 35 pass-blocking snaps against the Jets.
TITANS
Titans Edge Harold Landry is coming off a solid Week 2 performance against the Jets in which he finished with 4 pressures and 2 sacks on just 22 pass rushes (18.2% pressure rate).
Landry is currently the heartbeat of this Titans pass rush, as he is the only player on the team with more than two pressures this season. Landry has lined up as a left edge on 82% of his snaps this season, meaning he will be squaring off against Packer RT Zach Tom for most of the night. Through two weeks, Tom is second among right tackles with at least 30 pass blocking snaps in pressure rate allowed at 3.6%. Additionally, Tom’s 5.6% pressure rate allowed last season led all right…
