I was scrolling Instagram this lunchtime and on a video by a woman on not tolerating cheating in a partner there were a raft of comments to the effect that men should be allowed to have more than one female partner because of their “needs”. Among the wilder of these was a statement that there are “6-7 women to every man” so in order for women to have relationships and children we needed to expect men to cheat. Even more disappointingly, it was a woman commenting this in defence of cheating men. How deeply do you have to be indoctrinated to not be able to believe the evidence of your own eyes, or disprove this with literally any census report?
What’s the daftest statistic you’ve ever seen cited to defend shitty male behaviour, everyone? This one is definitely a new low bar for me.
