So my dad is in Egypt for a business meeting with some politicians and higher ups. They’re very intense with their security and even insisted on my dad having a bodyguard. Last night when he got back to the hotel after dinner, he told the bodyguard he can go home because they won’t be leaving the hotel again.

Not long after the bodyguard left, my dad noticed a man staring at him from afar and following him around (dad thinks he had been waiting for the guard to leave). The guy ended up basically cornering my dad by the elevators, said he’s “gorgeous” and asked if he would “like some love”. My dad is very friendly and chill, and weirdly often he’s hit on by guys (even once in front of my mum) so I can kinda see a real creeper thinking my dad is into it. My dad manages to get past him, goes to his room, deadbolts the door and calls my mum. My dad thought it was more a funny story than a scary one, then my mum said “welcome to being a woman”. She said he went silent for a moment then goes “oh…….I didn’t think of it like that” and she could “hear his mind spinning”.

My dad felt a bit uneasy about what happened with the guy but not too bothered by it. They were in a really fancy hotel with a lot of people around, and my dad said the guy was a tubby 5ft man while my dad is 6ft and in good shape, so he didn’t feel he was in any real danger. He said it was uncomfortable but not scary as he imagined it would be if he wasn’t a guy, and he didn’t realise this kind of thing happens so often. Then my dad made a joke about stepping on and squashing the little man

As I’m typing this, I’m realising how fucked up it is that a guy did this to my dad. It’s weird to think there’s someone out there who was preying on him, and it’s even weirder having been in similar situations before. I’m very glad my dad is okay and that he’s not at all shook up about it, and that for him it’s just a funny story. I guess he did need that bodyguard after all lol
