When Northern Illinois beat Notre Dame they secured their 19th Boneyard win, a win over a Power 5 opponent, this made me curious as to what teams NIU could add to this tally, and I looked through their future schedule, one team caught my eye, Missouri in 2029. This game is being held in DeKalb, the second of 3 games in 2028, 2029, and 2032

This reminded me of Missouri playing at UMass this year, and as I continued to look through Missouri’s schedule, I noticed several games at G5 opponents.

Since 2000 Missouri has played at:

Ball State (2003)

Troy (2004)

New Mexico (2006)

Nevada (2009)

UCF (2012)

Toledo (2014)

Arkansas State (2015)

UConn (2017)

Wyoming (2019)

UMass (2024)

and in the future they have games at:

San Diego State (2027)

Northern Illinois (2029)

North Texas (2030)

Florida Atlantic (2031)

and San Diego State, again (2033)

Do any Missouri fans know why they do this? I like larger opponents traveling to smaller stadiums, you just don’t usually see teams do it this often.

EDIT: u/36ers caught that I missed at Arkansas State in 2015, fixed it
