An interesting writeup from that NY Times that discusses the acceptance of poor or non-existent pain management in women’s healthcare. From the fertility clinic where a nurse stole patients’ surgical meds and doctors refused to listen to their agonized screams, to patients not being given informed consent about IUD insertions and GYN related biopsies.

Why is women’s pain ignored?

Coming from a background of having a significantly delayed endometriosis diagnosis, I think it’s important to spread awareness that we have options, our pain is valid and that healthcare providers should be honest about medical procedures. We have a right to make informed, consensual decisions about our healthcare, and patients deserve to not be gaslit or dismissed.
